In addition to her contributions to fields such as administration of Roman Egypt, language contact in the Mediterranean and dreams in Antiquity, Torallas Tovar has authored many editions of papyri. She is currently engaged in an edition of a papyrus roll containing Athanasius’s Letter to Dracontius, the earliest extant witness to Athanasius’s works, and a critical edition of the Coptic versions of the Gospel of Mark in collaboration with Anne Boud’hors (IRHT Paris). Over the past nine years, she has collaborated with Christopher Faraone on the project “Transmission of Magical Knowledge,” dedicated to the publication of Greco-Egyptian magical papyri. Their work was recently recognized with the Goodwin Award of Merit from the Society of Classical Studies (USA).

7 1 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settingsTo the Origins of Greek Stenography. P.Monts.Roca I(Publicaciones de l'Abadía Montserrat, 2006)
;Torallas Tovar, SofíaWorp, Klass A.The present volume is dedicated to the memory of Dr. Ramón Roca-Puig, on the centenary of his birth in 1906. Upon his death in 2001, this Catalan priest and scholar bequeathed his important papyrus collection to the famous Benedictine Abbey of Montserrat, where it is now entrusted to the care of Father Pius Tragan. This collection has now been catalogued and, since many pieces deserve full scholarly editions, a new series has been created for publishing such editions. This is the first volume of this series, and we have chosen to honour the previous owner of the Papyri Montserratenses Roca with one of his favourite pieces of which he himself published several sections. Special catalogues and editions of various other Oriental texts and objects belonging to the Abbey are planned to appear in the same series.12 4 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settingsBiblica Coptica Montserratensia, P.Monts.
This is an e-book published in CD format, containing specific case studies by various specialists on the relationship between man and the afterlife in various cultures, from India to the Mediterranean, over a time frame ranging from antiquity down to the middle ages. The bulk of the studies concern the classical world, taking in a comparison of archaic Greek literature with that of the Levant, the Orphic lamellae, magical papyri Greek, to the Roman and Christian epoch in Egypt. The volume ends with two different perspectives, namely those of Slavic culture and of India.5 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settingsEl orfebre del insulto. Abstract: Shenoute of Atripe was one the most important agents of the emergence of monasticism in Egypt in late antiquity. This article examines two aspects of that agency as it emerges in his sermons. In his role as abbot of a large congregation, he insisted on punishing disobedience or evil behaviour within the monastery. Beyond the walls of the monastery, Shenoute presents himself as a representative of god and Christ in the local community. With recent imperial antipagan legislation in hand, he felt authorized in his attacks against those he presents as pagans or paganizing, including local imperial administrators, who were (or at least represented themselves as) Christian. In an appendix we include the translation of Not because a fox barks, a text in which these latter aspects of Shenoute’s agency emerge clearly.
Insult in literature and in documentary texts has two possible approaches in its study. On the one hand, there is the linguistic aspect, the precise terms used as offence, and on the other, the legal aspect. The papyri from Egypt provide very few examples of the vocabulary used by the proverbially vicious tongue of the Egyptians, but many cases of complaints for insult and the consideration that this practice had among them.
The control of the population became a significant problem already in Late Antiquity. The documents from Egypt from the late Roman period and the first period after the Islamic conquest attest to the efforts of the authorities to control the colonate, mainly for fiscal reasons. The newly established Islamic power adopted the system which had only begun to take shape in the last centuries of Roman rule. The control of the fugitives acquired a refined organisation, reflected both in the literary and the documentary sources.2 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settingsPharaoh’s Reeds: a papyrus journey up the Nile(European Institute of the Mediterranean, 2016)

A Papyrus Voyage Up the Nile” is an unbeatable opportunity to discover one of the least known aspects of Catalan heritage: the papyrological collections held at the Abbey of Montserrat and the Historic Archive of the Jesuits in Catalonia. It is a desire and priority of the Catalan institutions to promote the rich heritage held in Catalonia and to make it available to everyone, from the general public to specialists. In this respect, the holding of the exhibition coinciding with the 28th International Congress of Papyrology, organised by Pompeu Fabra University and the IEMed, also clearly shows the commitment of Catalan scientific and political institutions to high level research in all fields of knowledge. Based on an already solid tradition, initiatives like this show the potential of this research but also the goals it has achieved in Catalonia and its presence in international forums.6 1
