The IAS Publications collection consists primarily of books, pamphlets, periodicals, and other printed items created by the Institute for Advanced Study.

Administrative records of the School of Social Science including faculty files, member and visitor files, Administrative Officer files, occasional papers, and photographs and audiocassettes.

Correspondence, work papers, manuscripts, administrative and financial material, and other printed matter related to George Placzek’s professional and personal activities.

The Register of the Institute for Advanced Study holds the signatures of the Institute's Directors, Faculty, Members, and Visitors. The Register consists currently of four leather-bound volumes. The first volume includes signatures from the dates 1933-1970; the second, 1970-1984; and the third, 1984-2000. A fourth volume, 2000-present, is currently in use in the Director's office.

Correspondence and other material related to Forrestal's service on the Institute for Advanced Study's Board of Trustees, including his participation in the Wolfensohn Review and Planning Committee.

Minutes of Faculty meetings and Executive Officers meetings.

Administrative files including meeting minutes of IAS committees, correspondence with IAS administrators, topical files on land preservation, faculty pensions, and the Institute Club, and material related to Morton White's position as Executive Officer of the School of Historical Studies in 1972-1973, 1980-1981, and 1985-1986. Appointments and Faculty files include correspondence with IAS Faculty and applications for IAS membership, and primarily concern the selection of scholars for Faculty or Member positions at the Institute.

J. Richardson Dilworth's personal papers during his years as a trustee of the Institute for Advanced Study. Mr. Dilworth was a Trustee from 1964-1981, President 1970-1981, and Chairman 1981-1986. Contains correspondence, memoranda, news clippings and reports.

Handwritten and typed letters in German from Albert Einstein to Josef Scharl; letters from Albert Einstein's sister, Maja (a.k.a. Maria), to Josef Scharl; a funeral address for Josef Scharl by Albert Einstein; and a telegram and postcard to Josef Scharl.

Thirty unique items, mostly letters and postcards, which are most often addressed by Homer Thompson to Elfriede (Kezia) Regina Overhoff Knauer.

Research files and calculations related to solar neutrinos, the Hubble Space Telescope and other scientific topics, handwritten notebooks, professional correspondence, Bahcall's scientific papers, files from his tenure as president of the American Astronomical Society, and recordings of some of his appearances on radio and television.
