The reports also carry an internal inventory numbering, numbering them within an overall list of reports issued by the Institute to document the work being done on the Electronic Computer Project. The actual list itself is entitled: The Institute for Advanced Study, Electronic Computer Project list of reports issued during the years 1946-1954 [i.e. 1957]. On individual reports this is shortened to: IAS ECP list of reports, 1946-57. In the inventory numbering system, the interim progress reports are also called: no. 3 (1st interim progress report); no. 5 (2nd report); no. 7 (3rd); no. 10 (4th); no. 12 (5th); no. 14 (6th); no. 15 (final, or 7th).
The first report issued lacked numbering. The last report issued was called the Final report, but constitutes the 7th report.
