Portrait of paleographer Elias Avery Lowe who joined the Faculty of the School of Humanistic Studies - later known as the School of Historical Studies. Louise Morse notes by this photograph that Professor Lowe's wife, Helen Tracy Lowe-Porter, was a translator best known for her translations of the works of Thomas Mann.
