Description
Paleographer Elias A. Lowe was among the first Faculty appointments to an early School of the Institute, the School of Humanistic Studies (and his affiiation continued with the later School of Historical Studies). Lowe accepted a post at the Institute in December 1935 and this subject file on the topic of housing includes correspondence about the building of a house for him to occupy close to the Institute campus on Battle Road Circle. Some folders in the Director's Office Faculty files series include a processing note with the heading "Items Removed." These removed items are now located in the offprint collection of the Institute's Historical Studies-Social Science Library.
