Minutes from a June 2, 1945, meeting of the Faculty of the School of Mathematics in which the possibility of exploring a program in "Experimental Physics: is discussed. Present at the meeting were Albert Einstein, Marston Morse, John von Neumann, Oswald Veblen, Hermann Weyl, James Alexander, and Director Frank Aydelotte. J. Robert Oppenheimer, who became the Institute's third Director, is one of the people discussed. Von Neumann mentions the prospect of a computational project in which the Institute could take a leading role. The Electronic Computer Project was established at the Institute shortly thereafter.
