Abraham Flexner and the establishment and early years of IAS: notes and correspondence

The first of two chronological files containing some of Institute for Advanced Study founding Director Abraham Flexner's notes and correspondence regarding establishing the Institute: in particular, addressing the question of which fields of study the Institute would pursue and which scholars would be invited to do that work. The correspondents are many and represent a wide scope of those associated with the academic community. Page 92 of this file appears to be a copy of the questions initially posed by Flexner to his correspondents.
