Description
This portion of the Faculty file contains correspondence between the Institute for Advanced Study founding Director Abraham Flexner and Benjamin Meritt, who was among the first Institute Faculty appointments in the humanities. The correspondence reflects both the personal and professional nature of the relationship between the two men, and includes material addressing Institute administrative matters. There are a few letters to Abraham Flexner from his brother, Simon. Some folders in the Director's Office Faculty files series include a processing note with the heading "Items Removed." These removed items are now located in the offprint collection of the Institute's Historical Studies-Social Science Library.
