Untitled (Pittsburgh Industrial). Color wood engraving, 1911. 127x176 mm; 5x 7 inches, full margins. Appears to be unnumbered, however inscribed to Willis Doney and signed lower margin. Graphic artist and type-designer, Ruzicka (1883-1978) was born in Bohemia, emigrated to Chicago, where he trained as a wood engraver and designer; continued his studies in New York. During the 1930s he collaborated with Philip Hofer on a number of projects, including a series of engravings for Harvard University and the University's diploma designs. Ruzicka's latter years were spent in New Hampshire, where he died in 1978.
