Description
The images taken by Arthur S. Eddington on May 29, 1919, of a total solar eclipse were the earliest empirical tests seeking confirmation of Albert Einstein's theory of general relativity. Text appears on the front (in reverse) and back of this print. The verso text, in French, reads: Eclipse totale de soleil, 29 Mai 1919, Couronne, exp. 12 sec.
