Description
This portion of the Faculty file contains correspondence and other materials pertaining to an inquiry sent to Albert Einstein by rare book and manuscript collector Richard Gimbel. Einstein is asked to assess the scientific validity of the aspects of Edgar Allan Poe's literary work, Eureka, that are presented as hard science. Some folders in the Director's Office Faculty files series include a processing note with the heading "Items Removed." These removed items are now located in the offprint collection of the Institute's Historical Studies-Social Science Library.
