Socabon

Painting titled Socabon. Mixed media on canvas. Bolivian (1919-1982). María Luisa Pacheco [née Dietrich] was born in La Paz in 1919. She attended the Academia de Bellas Artes in La Paz and worked as an illustrator at the newspaper La Razón between 1948 and 1950. Moving to Spain in 1950, she studiedunder Daniel Vázquez Díaz and at the Escuela de Bellas Artes de San Fernando in Madrid. She eventually moved to New York and was awarded three Guggenheim Fellowships.
