Description
Oswald Veblen writes to Simon Flexner about his ideas for a system of fellowships to support advanced study of mathematics and other subjects. Simon Flexner suggested that Veblen write to his brother, Abraham Flexner. Abraham Flexner became the Founding Director of the Institute in 1930, and Veblen ts first Faculty member.
