Description
This is a portion of the Faculty file containing correspondence and other documentation relating to Albert Einstein and the cultural and political pressures in the United States in the early 1950s created by the perception of a communist threat. One of the topics covered is a meeting of the Emergency Civil Liberties Committee to which Einstein received an invitation that he declined. Some folders in the Director's Office Faculty files series include a processing note with the heading "Items Removed." These removed items are now located in the offprint collection of the Institute's Historical Studies-Social Science Library.
