Formal portrait of Albert Einstein and Rabindranath Tagore, which was most likely taken in the photographer's studio in New York. The print is adhered inside a paperboard portfolio frame, and is signed in pencil by the photographer under the image. The portfolio is marked on the cover in ink: "A.E. & Tagore, Dec. 1930, New York," and on the back panel, in ink: "Martin Vos, 2647 Broadway, New York." Also, in the collection, see EB 189 and EB 229, which are by the same photographer and would appear to have been taken on the same occasion. One of the three prints taken on this occasion indicates both the year of 1930 and 1931, so the exact year is still uncertain.
