One of those was sculpted by Sergei Konenkov and the other by Jacob Epstein (see IAS Digital Collections: http://cdm.itg.ias.edu/cdm/). In response to an inquiry regarding his profession, Einstein once quipped that he was "an artist's model" reflecting the frequency with which he was asked to be the subject of a sculpture or painting. Some folders in the Director's Office Faculty files series include a processing note with the heading "Items Removed."
