Albert and Elsa were married the same year Einstein made this piece: 1919. Albert's handwritten notations on this piece include initials for each person under their silhouetted figure, Einstein's initials in the lower right, and a poem in the upper right. The text of the poem and a word next to Einstein's initials are not entirely legible. The text in German frakturs beneath the silhouette reads: Peterchens Mondfahrt, which is the title of a German children's classic, Peterkin's Journey to the Moon.
